Bio
I grew up in Ireland riding horses, pony clubbing, hunting, eventing. Graduated from College with a degreee in Education and taught school in Dublin for 3 years before moving to California (25 years ago!) The move to California followed the Los Angeles Olympic Games where I covered the 3 day eventing for an English magazine, Horse and Hound. Married to a builder/developer, I have a 13 year old son whom I am home-schooling for 2 years. Reside in Alpine, CA where my retired QH, now 25, enjoys the company of his new girlfriend "Lucky Girl" rescued from Fallon, Feedlot Jun 2007. Visit my website http://www.savinghorsesinc.com
Horse experience
3-day eventing on my QH until a few years ago when I sustained a bad knee injury. Have ridden side saddle and appeared in a movie as an extra, alongside sean Connery and Donald Sutherland. "The first great train robbery" filmed in Ireland. Adult amateur jumpers. Taught pony club. Hold "A" pony club ranking.
FOB activities
Came on board in May 07 as a new recruit to the California calling group. Became involved in rescues advertised on TWR, donating thousands of dollars in just a couple of months. Recognizing the financial need of rescues, decided to form SAVING HORSES, INC., a 501 (c)(3) fundraising organization to benefit the rescue of horses from slaughter, abuse neglect and abandonment. After going to my first auction where I saved 4 horses, I wanted to help more. SHI started rescuing more horses, 30 to date. SHI does ongoing private fundraising events so that it is able to have funds to donate to other rescues, in addition to caring for the horses we have rescued that await adoption.
