Blossom
From AlexBrownRacing
Blossom <guesstimated age 25-30yo arab-x> arrived here at the farm while on a truck bound for Sugarcreek one Thursday morning in early Winter. She, along with a parade of other horses were on the truck that chilly day. My first impressions of Blossom were that she had been neglected for years. A forgotten soul just left out to pasture somewhere. She was thin, lethargic, not people friendly, and her feet were very bad. her teeth just looked like they had never been touched by a dentist. All I could see was that she needed me and a chance to be a happy horse again, so I told the man,"Put her in the small paddock we will take her".
While it's been tough getting her trims all caught up, working with her to tolerate/trust humans, grooming her to beat the band, and getting her Cushings under control - it's all been worth it just to see her blossom into the "Blossom" I saw with my heart that day. She still has that far-away look in her eyes sometimes, but when she turns her head and looks at where she's at now I can see a twinkle in her eye.
