I am a professional writer. I live in the Southeast currently; as I had an interest in exploring the culture of the Old South. I think I romanticized the South a great deal before I relocated, inadvertanly here.

Although I always wrote,I had a reasonably long career as a footwear designer; and traveled all over the world for my work. During the course of my fashion career I lived in Italy for a while. I left the fashion field, as family exigencies changed the course of my life.

I am an aesthetically oriented person; and particularly love the beauty that I found in nature.

Horse experience

My dad was a sportsman; and former semiprofessional baseball player who loved the majesty and beauty of thoroughbred race horses.I was first introduced to the races, when they were broadcast on television, as a very small child in the days when Heywood Hale Broun was the colourful announcer, dressed outlandishly in Sherlock Holmes cape and deerstalker hat.

My parents encougraged me to go riding when it was offered, as a by parental permission activity, at the sleep away camp that I attended as a child. I was very enthusiastic, until one rainy afternoon when my horse took off over a patch of slick wet leaves. Though I maintained control of the horse until the session was over, I was loath to get back up again that summer. In the ensuing years I became a comimmitted dog owner. My love for nature and all creatures with whom we share the earth naturally brought me back to horses. I have volunteered with horses in various venues and will begin riding agian as soon as I am in the position to take proper English instruction. I will never be a hunter/jumper!!!

I love being around the horses and they seem to like me too.

FOB activities

I have been an active fundraiser for the better part of 2007 for horse rescues. I work mostly with Careen Cain and our other associates in placing horses from Kansas. In addition I have raised money for Fair Dinkum; and I work with/as Fobe one of the Nebraska Seven @ Breakhaeart Ranch, as well as raising money for Black Velvet another Topeka rescue and Ko Ko and Keoni two other Kansas horses at Rainbowmedows Rescue Ranch...

Together with Careen Cain and our other Topeka associate a horse trader, I orchestrated the Kansas Kids Easter Weanling Road Trip. We placed 17 weanllings and yearlings with monies raised from the FOBs @ Pure Thoughts over the Easter holiday. Pure Thoughts and I made a round trip to Kansas to collect the horses in the vehicle I deemed, for the adventure, The Ruby Slippers Express...

I am currently involved with Careen in our most ambitious project to date, the purchase and placement of 46 slaughter bound Kansas horses of all breeds-- This an overwhelming undertaking. The FOBs have been graciously supporting us in this endeavour. We are indeed grateful, as are the rescued horses. Sadly we were unable to save the first load of 36... We pray that their souls find eternal peace.

FOB Network

All those who support my rescue endeavours, are indeed my FOB network. I think a network expands as you continually put your energies out in the universe.
