Bio
I'm in Yardley PA, Bucks County, the northeast suburb of Philadelphia. My "day job" is in property management. And my "night job" is fighting horse slaughter!
I live with my two fur babies....Buddy, my 9 year old "mixed breed" dog and my new addition, Batman, a cat that I took home from the racetrack. My 20 yr old cat Thunder died in July. Batman is about 3 years old and I brought him home because Buddy missed Thunder so much. So far I'm still acting as referee and hope they will "bond" soon. Lots of luck with this one!! Batman is a sweetheart but is not used to dogs.
Horse experience
I've always been an avid fan of thoroughbreds and am lucky now to have racehorses of my own. I have two that are currently racing, Mr. Boxcar (3 years old), Peppy Addy Stakes winner, and Ironclad Alibi (4 years old). They are both stabled at Philadelphia Park and are trained by Dee Curry. There is also a new addition to Smarty's Gift Stable...a handsome 2 year old named Bright Nickel. He is now training at Philadelphia Park with Dee also and is looking good! My other two horses are both retired. I'ma Wild One is now living at beautiful Birch Creek Farm in New Jersey and is being bred for sport horses. She loves her new life and is very happy. My Jester Girl has been adopted by a wonderful lady in Pennsylvania. Her name is Christy and she loves Jessie to death and has given her a wonderful home.
I rode a bit but balance issues as I got older have kept my feet planted on the ground. I'm happy to just visit with my horses, give them carrots and peppermints and just love them.
FOB activities
While I am involved in many FOB activities like horse rescue, my main issue is the fight to help end horse slaughter. I've been involved in getting this legislation passed for a long time and went to Washington last year before the 2006 vote in the House. Debra Lopez and I now work closely with our DC contacts in developing stategy to pass along to the FOB's in order to help focus on the most productive way to pass the AHSPA.
FOB Network
I have met many wonderful people through the FOB network. Way too many to mention. I've worked closely with many on the anti slaughter fight and it was wonderful being able to put so many faces with names at the Delaware Park Barbaro Celebration.
And, of course, there's Alex. Without him there would be no FOB network.
