The Cowardly Lion (on the left) 5 year old TB with his new friend Mad Bossy - 15 YO TB Broodmare.

Both were sold to slaughter on June 4th.

In his race records below for 2007, you can see how he's at a 6K claiming price. Even though he is in the money at that level, it's not enough. When AC4H found him in the kill pen, he wasn't 100% sound. Probably an injury in March? The trainer gives him some time off but he still not able to race by May and it is decided to get rid of him. He isn't even run through auction but instead was sold direct from backside to Killbuyer.

Life In Rescue

Cowardly Lion in QT at AC4H 6/08/07
He has both Affirmed and Storm Cat as grandsires. Storm Cat horses are known to be assertive. We'll see how he behaves in a few weeks as he has time to chill out.

(He looks like he's chilling out just fine in this pic.)

UPDATE: 6/15/07 Was observed as he had a chance to canter in the paddock area. We know he's not 100% sound but he does seem to canter fine. Whatever problem he has he seems to be compensating for it. He still needs lots of rest and stall time.
